Welcome to Ray Flatt's weekly BubbaGram It's springtime and outdoor planting and repairs are in full swing. This week is talking about things aren't always the way they seem. Speaking of being in full swing, reminds me of when Bubba and Earl were building a house. Got to the later stages when they were swinging their hammer putting on the siding. Earl noticed that Bubba was picking up each nail and examining it then either using it or throwing it over his shoulder. Earl asked, "Why are throwing away so many of the nails? Are they bent? Are they dull? What's the deal?" Bubba explained, "Don't know why, but many of the nails are made backwards. They're pointing the wrong way. The ones that don't point toward the house are defective, so I simply throw them away." Earl jumped up and yelled, "Bubba, you fool! Don't you know you can use them nails on the other side of the house!" Don't laugh too much, we're sometimes just like Bubba. It seems that many things we don't understand we are quick to disregard and throw away as well. By the same token, be careful of the explanation given by others. They may not know why either. ----- Things sure have been spooky around here this past week. With all the rain and thunderstorms there are tales of the Cedar Hill Ghost being told again. Seems there was this fellow whose car broke down one stormy night last week. He was trying to hitch a ride when this car rolls up and stops to pick him up. With it raining he was quick to open the door and jump in the passenger side. The car begin to move on down the road. While shaking off the wet rain, he was thanking the driver for his act of kindness in picking him up. As he looked over to the driver seat he discovered it was empty. Needless to say this freaked him out, not to mention when he looked up he saw a wet road with a steep drop off to his right and a sharp curve up ahead. If you missed the curve you went over a cliff. He had heard stories all his life of Ghost Driven Cars, but he never thought he would be in one. One thing for sure, he wasn't going to let this ghost driver take him over the cliff by missing the upcoming curve. He jumped into action and he opened the door and rolled out of the moving car. He not only rolled on the gravel, but also rolled down the steep drop off. The good news was that he not only lived, but he didn't even break any of his bones. With just a few scratches, he was glad to be alive. However, it did take him up a while to climb back up to the road and walk to safe haven of the nearest truck stop. After arriving at the truck stop while trying to dry out and sipping on a cup of hot coffee, he began to tell the story to anyone that would listen. Everyone was polite to listen but obvious thought he was a bit crazy. After awhile he gave up on getting anyone to believe him, rented a tow truck, and when to get his own car. Bubba and Earl had been sitting at a booth close by and were listening to the man's story. Bubba looked over at Earl and said, "You know Bubba, remember when we ran out of gas and was pushing our car here. Didn't I tell you I thought someone got in the car when we stopped to catch our breath." No matter how noisy your storm, don't be quick to judge your current situation. It's probably not as bad as you think. Fear is a dangerous force that will send you on a roll in the wrong direction. And guess what, it normally takes a while to climb back to get on the right road. Let God send others to come and give you a lift. Just don't try to figure it all out. ----- That's all from BubbaLand, talk to ya next week.
