Welcome to Ray Flatt's Weekly BubbaGram.

Guess I should stay off religion and politics. Seems every time I touch on those subjects I end up making someone(s) mad, I lose readership and as well as probably losing some credibility. If it's one thing you learn about being a Bubba, it is in having an opinion your not going have everyone in agreement with ya.

But a good Bubba shouldn't easily be quick to always jump to a conclusion. For example quite a few years ago I was working in a store when a man came in asked for a Polish Sausage.

I looked at him and asked "Are you Polish?"

The guy, clearly offended, says to me  "Well, yes I am, but let me ask you something.  If I asked you for Italian Sausage, would you ask if I was Italian?"

I said, "Nope".

He continued "Or, if I asked for German Bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German?"

I again said "Nope".

Getting louder he said, "Or if I asked you for a Kosher Hot Dog, would you ask me if I was Jewish?"

Trying to calm him down I replied, "O course not."

Getting even more enraged, he yelled "Or, if I asked you for a Taco, would you ask me if I was Mexican? Would ya, huh? Would Ya?"

I replied, "Well no, but"

And not even giving me a chance to complete my sentence he continued "And if I asked you for some Irish Whiskey, would you ask me if I was Irish? What about Canadian Bacon, would you ask me if I was Canadian?"

All I could say was, "Well, I guess I probably wouldn't,"

Then a smirk look on his face and with self-indignation, the guy says to me "Well, all right then, why did you ask me if I'm Polish just because I asked for Polish Sausage?"

Having a hard time in keeping a straight face, I answered, "Because you're in a Hardware Store."

Joke just doesn't have the same meaning in today's world. You simply go to a Wal-Mart and they have everything, including Polish Sausages. Just for the record, I'm a Wal-Mart fan and customer, but I sure do miss a lot of the small independent businesses I considered to be more of my friends than mere retailers. Some friend I turned out to be? I must have been more Polish than American not to see their demise coming.

By the way, if you get mad at me for doing a Polish joke, next week I'm going to do a blonde joke. We as human beings have our culture tendencies. Never should we make fun of others to be cruel. However, we have got to learn to laugh at ourselves, not be offended and not be so darn political correct. Else sue me. Does this mean, I will be seeing you in court?
